Testimonial: Training a Barking Maremma

I stayed at Berry Springs Farmstay for free accommodation by doing some pet-sitting jobs—it was an amazing experience! However, one particular job came with a challenge: a dog that barked non-stop.
The dog’s constant barking upset the neighbors, who even threatened to report the owners to the council. To address the issue, we first tried using a bark-prevention collar, but unfortunately, it didn’t work. Instead, we resorted to a gentle but effective approach: squirting the dog with water whenever it started barking excessively.
It took time, consistency, and patience, but the method eventually worked. The dog learned to bark less, and peace was restored in the neighborhood. With the barking under control, I was able to enjoy the rest of my time looking after the dog and spending time with the family.
Training a barking dog can be frustrating, but with the right techniques and perseverance, it’s possible to resolve the issue and enjoy the rewarding experience of pet sitting!
