Food Donations Guidelines

We deeply appreciate the generosity of our caretakers who contribute food donations to support our animals. Be aware that you should never feed any animal without the host permission. To ensure the health and well-being of our residents, please adhere to the following guidelines when making food donations:

  1. Accepted Food Items:

    • We accept donations of commercially produced animal food, treats, and supplements suitable for the species residing at our property.
    • Fresh fruits, vegetables, and other perishable items should be unopened, in good condition, and within their expiration date.

  2. Preferred Food Types:

    • High-quality, nutritionally balanced diets specific to each animal’s dietary requirements are preferred.
    • Please consider the preferences and dietary restrictions of our animals when selecting food items for donation.

  3. Prohibited Items:

    • We do not accept homemade or home-prepared food items due to concerns about quality, safety, and potential contamination.
    • Items containing artificial preservatives, additives, or ingredients that may be harmful to animals are prohibited.

  4. Packaging and Labeling:

    • All donated food items should be in their original packaging, sealed, and clearly labeled with the product name, brand, and expiration date.
    • If repackaging is necessary, please use clean, airtight containers and label them accordingly.

  5. Allergen Information:

    • Please provide allergen information for food items that may contain common allergens such as wheat, soy, dairy, or nuts.

  6. Quantity Limitations:

    • While we appreciate all donations, we kindly ask that donors consider the storage capacity and needs of our sanctuary when making large quantity donations.

  7. Donation Drop-Off:

    • Donations can be dropped off at the designated donation area during our operating hours or by appointment.
    • Please notify caretakers and the owner in advance if you plan to make a large donation or if special arrangements are needed.

  8. Monetary Donations:

    • In addition to food donations, monetary contributions towards the purchase of animal food and supplies are also greatly appreciated.

  9. Tax Deductibility:

    • We foster some rescue animals for Act & Care which is a registered nonprofit organization, and donations may be tax-deductible. Please consult your tax advisor for more information.

  10. Acknowledgment and Gratitude:

    • We extend our sincere gratitude to all guests who contribute food donations to support our mission of providing quality care for our animal residents.

Thank you for your kindness and generosity in supporting the animals at our property. Your contributions make a meaningful difference in their lives.
